DENSITY TOWER WITH SALT

        DENSITY TOWER WITH SALT

Introduction :

This  is a simple experiment to show the density of salt. For this experiment i choosen test tube, you can select of your choice like glass, bottle etc;Same thing can be done with Sugar in the place of Salt.

Materials Needed:

Test tube

Food colours

Water

Salt

Procedure:
Step-1:

         Take 4 bowls .

Step-2:

Add Salt into the bowls. i. e;

Bowl 1:   1 table spoon of salt
Bowl 2:  2 table spoons of salt
Bowl 3:  3table spoons of salt
Bowl 4:  4table spoons of salt

Step-3:

Pour same quantity of water in all the 4bowls and stir them well until the salt completely dissolves in water.

Step-4:

Add different food colors of your choice in each bowl.

Add little quantity of higher density liquid  i. e;  the cup with 4table spoons of salt in the test tube or glass using a syringe. Next add 3tbsp and so on. Tilt the test tube little and start adding one by one.

Conclusion :

We can observe the layers of densities. The layers will not be mixed with each other.

Starch test with iodine

                    STARCH TEST WITH IODINE

Introduction :

This is an experiment to test the presence of starch content in any food item. In this experiment we are taking directly the starch powder.

Apparatus:

Test tube

Dropper

Iodine

Starch powder

Test tube holder

Spatula

Procedure:

Step- 1:

Take a test tube and add some Starch powder in the testtube with the spatula.

Step- 2:

Pour little water in the test tube using dropper. Shake well to become a fine solution.

Step-3:

Add few drops of Iodine solution into the test tube.

Step-4:

We can observe that the starch solution changes and turns into black colour.
If we add iodine solution in normal water it remains in yellowish colour.

Generalisation :

We can test with more food items. Potato, Bread contains starch content. So they turns into black bluishcolour.

Conclusion :
In the same way we can test for milk etc;

SWIRLING MILK

             SWIRLING MILK
      MILK  + SOAP =MAGIC

Materials Required :

Milk

Food colours

Dish washing liquid

Tray

Cotton ball

Procedure:

Step-1:

Pour milk into tray..

Step-2:

Add some food colors of different colours of your choice in drops.

Step-3:

Dip the cotton ball or cotton swab in dish washing liquid. And drop the cotton ball in centre of the plate.

Step-4:

The swirling of milk starts and goes on..After some time it gradually decreases and stops. Again if we drop dish washing liquid again it starts swirling.

Conclusion :

This is a funny experiment.. And we can get and do more designs..

PEPPER EXPERIMENT ( SURFACE TENSION)

            PEPPER  EXPERIMENT
                 SURFACE TENSION

Introduction :

This is a simple and easy experiment which can be done by kids.. This explains the concept of surface tension. The materials which we need in this experiment, we can get from our house..

Materials Needed:

Tray

Pepper powder

Dish washing liquid

Procedure:

Step-1:

Pour some water into the tray.

Step-2:

Sprinkle some pepper powder in water. Apply some dish washing liquid on your finger.

Step-3:

Place your finger in centre of the plate.

Conclusion :

We can observe the pepper powder in the plate moves and reaches to the edges of the plate. This happens due to surface tension.

INFLATING BALLOON WITH BAKING SODA & VINEGAR

       INFLATING BALLOON  WITH
           BAKING SODA & VINEGAR

Introduction :

This is a simple and easy experiments for kids.. They like and enjoyyy doing this experiment.. The materials which we need, we can get from our home itself...

 Materials Required :

Narrow necked bottle

Funnel

Vinegar
Baking soda

Balloons
Procedure:

Step -1:

Fill 1/4th of balloon with Baking soda using funnel.

Step - 2:

Pour some  vinegar into the bottle using funnel.

Step - 3:

Stretch the neck of the balloon over the neck of the bottle..

Step -3:

Once it is secure, lift the balloon quickly  so that the soda directly falls into the bottle.

Step-3:

As soon as the soda mixes with vinegar, the balloon slowly starts inflating.

Conclusion :

The reason how the balloon inflated is, when the soda mixes with vinegar the carbon di oxide gas will be released. So the balloon fizzes and starts inflating..
